Biography

Maurice Turmel (AKA - Dr Moe) was a practicing therapist for nearly 25 years. He holds a PhD degree in Counseling Psychology and has published 2 books of short stories, parables and poetry. Today he defines himself as an Artist first, who happens to be a poet, author, carpenter, husband, father, grandfather, good friend, son-in-law, son, brother-in-law, prankster, Pisces, earthling, singer, songwriter, musician, recovering ‘burn out’, God groupie, TV addict, dog walker, internet publisher, short order cook, liberal, bon vivant, sailor, citizen of the Universe, occasional whiner, house cleaner, raconteur, book addict, dreamer, outrageous when necessary, lives life out loud, rock’n roller, comedian, snappy dresser, amateur anthropologist, Egyptologist, and, and, and, “Lover of Life.” “Music with a Message” is how he describes his audio creations. They are simply recreations of what he has learned in the consulting room, working with individuals who are troubled and hurt. His music is self-affirming Spiritual/Blues/Pop/Rock. In both his writing and music creations, Dr. Turmel enjoys bringing messages of Hope, Inspiration, and Self-Awareness to individuals and audiences eager for something Life-Affirming and Uplifting in their lives. Creativity, he believes, is everyone’s potential, having learned this lesson himself as an Academic turned Artist. “For some of us,” he acknowledges, “creativity comes along later in Life. But what an opportunity to give of oneself, and further define that Self as we grow older. What better legacy is there to give our children and grandchildren, than ‘permission’ to create, shown by example or by word.”
