When Melissa Forbes abandoned a promising law career to follow her dream of becoming a singer, it paid off in spades. This classy lady's sultry, confident voice is the perfect accompaniment to these vintage-sounding soul-jazz ballads and proof that the world needs more ex-lawyers.
ALBUM DESCRIPTION
Ever woken up on a Monday morning with that sinking feeling about the work week ahead? Ex-lawyer turned singer-songwriter Melissa Forbes felt it so strongly she decided to become a singer and released her debut album "No More Mondays" on her own label, Kitten Kong Records. An outstanding vocalist capable of singing anything from Ella Fitzgerald to Aretha Franklin, Melissa seamlessly integrates her conservatorium jazz training with r&b grooves.
On "No More Mondays" Melissa fuses jazz with soul, r&b, blues and folk and presents originals, standards and jazzified takes on popular tunes (e.g. D'Angelo, Michael Jacskon, Metallica). Eight of Melissa's own songs are included on the album and each reflects a different aspect of her broad range of musical influences and tastes. A guaranteed cure for "Monday-itis", "No More Mondays" will either have you grooving all the way to the office or handing in your notice!
