Biography

( MELODIC) Music, Energy, Lyrics, Originality, Inspiration & Consciousness. Jamaican born, Canadian breed and New York livin? reggae superstar Melodic has been dropping lyrical melodies since his youthful days rockin? the sound systems in his hometown of St Thomas, Jamaica. His unique style of blending classic reggae, modern dancehall & hip hop music is an essential part of what he represents as a person and an artist. At a young age Melodic began crafting his musical skills spinning from a 25 cent jukebox at his local Jamaican bar. This young lyrical messenger would sing at local store fronts that had a small sound system where he voiced his cords from a microphone on the street side, through the shop counter window. His self developed singing style occurred from nightly stand in?s a corner street ciphers with different friends. His rude boy looks, charismatic personality and original voice are a key part of his commercial appeal which has spread far beyond the Jamaican yards that raised him. Moving to New York at the age of 21, melodic quickly gained recognition in the industry by consistently adding his signature spice to the reggae and hip hop music scene. Whether opening up for recognized reggae and hip hop artists such as Mos Def, Dead Prez, Tupac, Scarface, Buju Baton, Tiger, Mad Professor, his onstage energy always impressed his peers as well as the crowd. On the reggae tip Melodic?s original sound, fusing old school reggae and hip hop, was elementary in breaking down the barriers between reggae and rap, long before Sean Paul became the genre?s poster child. With one listen to his mesmerizing melodies, any true music aficionado can feel the conscious message delivered in his wild style lyrical flow and melodic sounds. Melodic has already featured in numerous national music magazines including Maxim?s Blender, Stuff and Frank 151, as well as modeling in fashion spreads for Phat Farm Clothing, LRG, Melting Pot & Yard Man Style. Locally in the New York City?s concert scene he?s performed at numerous venues including CBGB?s, Le Bar Bat, S.O.B?s, Lions Den, The Wetlands, Baggot Inn, Culture Club, Joe?s Pub, Irie Jamboree, Believe Lounge, The Canal Room, Remote Lounge, Bounce Bar, Nuyorican Cafe and New York University. On Melodic?s latest musical journey, the well seasoned reggae vet gives pound for pound 15 of the most smokin? hits reggae music has to offer. With the hottest tracks from renowned reggae production teams Develop B, DJ Tats, Coptic, Kab Web, Win Beats & Spark. Melodic?s debut album, ?Straight Yoza!? displays a wide range of harmonious sounds from radio friendly dancehall hits to authentic raps that are reminiscent of the ruff New York City blocks and tuff Jamaican yards. Sit back and relax, take a deep breath of fresh air and witness the manifest of an undeniably original vocalist in times saturated with copycats and clones. Straight Yoza! Original reggae and raps.
