Easily an '06 hipster favorite, the duo MSTRKRFT (an attention-getting abbreviation of Master Kraft) quietly snuck up on dancefloors everywhere, ambushing them like troubled neighborhood boys water ballooning fearful schoolgirls. Running a typical dance music format through the meat grinder, MSTRKRFT’s debut album "The Looks" twists together electrified industrial, detached electro, and greasy indie.
MSTRKRFT (aka Jesse Keeler, from Death From Above 1979 & Al-P who is DFA 1979's producer) are set for a summer release of their debut album, The Looks. The two Toronto-based producers have been making a big name for themselves, remixing everyone from The Kills to Bloc Party to Wolfmother to Annie. Already being hailed by press both overseas (Vice UK, Disorder) and domestic (The Fader just featured them as one of their favorite remixing teams), MSTRKRFT are destined to pack dance floors and magazine space over 2006. With two feet firmly planted in punk rock's influential past and two in dance music's future, this duo is crafting a new breed of electronic music for rockers and dance-heads alike. Tour dates below
"MSTRKRFT are rewriting the electro-house rulebook...the Daft Punk disco and vocodered-up vocals of opening shot "Easy Love" is the latest case of genre-mashing dance-rock causing club floor anarchy" - NME
