MYNT is a fusion of dance, rock, and early 90s synth-pop created by producers Albert Castillo and Rich "DJ Riddler" Pangilinan who have remixed such artists like Christina Aguilera, Dido, Kelly Clarkson, and Mary J. Blige. Along with vocalists Marisol Angelique, Kim Sozzi and former American Idol finalist Joe Murena, MYNT represents American club culture with an alternative twist.
The first single "How Did You Know" was recorded in the summer of 2003 as a featured song on DJ Riddler's award winning radio mix show in New York City. From there, the song eventually was signed by an independent record label - Neutone Records, received a lot of radio airplay, entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart, became the #1 most played record on New York radio's WKTU 103.5 FM, and crossed over to Top 40 Radio giants like Z100 - New York and Miami's Y-100. With that kind of momentum, MYNT started work on the full-length CD for Ultra Record entitled Still Not Sorry.
"From the beginning, we wanted to create a group that was a throwback to our youth. Albert and I grew up listening to everything from Dee-lite, Nine-Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, C&C Music Factory, Saint Etienne, Book of Love, to Culture Beat and 2 Unlimited. So we decided to take those experiences, fuse them with some of today's upcoming talented artists and form our own 21st Century version of those early groups." DJ Riddler
MYNT is not a DJ/Producer driven project with faceless singers. With the enlistment of Houston singer/songwriter/dancer Marisol Angelique and New York's Club Diva Kim Sozzi, MYNT now has a sound and look that rivals some of the earlier pop- dance groups like Dee-lite, Ace of Base, and C&C Music Factory.
Still Not Sorry is packed with up-tempo beats and retro vibes. After "How Did You Know", the follow-up single "Stay" is already a Top 10 radio record according to the Billboard Dance Radio Chart issue date June 25, 2005. The self-entitled song "Still Not Sorry" is a return to early 90s synth-pop with live guitars to give it that alternative edge with an empowering message that all women can relate with. "Back In Love" has a classic house music feel to it that should wow the UK audience along with the early 90s house music fans. "You're the Only One" sung by former American Idol finalist Joe Murena is reminiscent to late 80s Journey/Steve Perry. "Take Me Home"written and performed by Marisol Angelique has a funky disco feel. " With Marisol's soulful delivery on "Takin' Over" and bilingual Latin flare on "Besame", audiences can expect a well-rounded performance from MYNT. "Send Me an Angel" is not a rendition of the 80s hit by the group Real Life but rather an interpolation of Giorgio Moroder's classic "The chase". However, all is not fun and games on the track "Playa Haters" with its B-boy breakdance beats and raw lyrics. Nevertheless, STILL Still Not Sorry is a rhythmic journey of past and present themes sure to captivate audiences.
