Cats constantly struggling to find music that evokes memories of the Golden Age of Hip-Hop will appreciate Niamaj. Jazzy loops and sharp, organic drum chops are a perfect backdrop for the Brooklyn transplant's laid-back rhyme style. Beat digger Kero One's production helps keep the art of sampling alive and well.
Hailing outta Brooklyn, New York, the birthplace of many well known hip-hop groups, comes MC Niamaj, known for his uplifting rhymes and laid back delivery. In 1999, he dropped a 4 song demo ep that only made it to the local bay area radio stations on a limited run. Though the release never made it out of California because of distribution, it did however, lead him to top spots on college radio stations such as KUSF's Beatsauce, and performances with hip-hop pioneers such as Big Daddy Kane. After several years on hiatus, Niamaj returns with a upbeat 12" called "the vibe" produced by Kero One. Within the first couple months of release, the 12" had made #1 on college radio charts and landed on mixtapes from reknowned DJs such as the Beat Junkies and others overseas. Be sure to keep a close eye on Niamaj in the new millenium's hiphop scene...you won't want to miss anything from this new talent.
