Instrumental prog metal finds new life in the hands of Nightfist. These young metalheads create a throbbing blend of progressive math rock sweetened with Yes-inspired grandeur. If Dream Theater ran the Windham Hill catalog through a blender, the result would sound a lot like Nightfist.
Biography
Born and bred in Menlo Park, California, Nightfist is an enigmatic, towering five-piece built on a foundation of pummeling drums and bass, erected by freight train guitar chop and topped off by driving keyboards that guide the songs forward with relentless tunnel vision despite more twists and turns than a classic murder mystery. Equal parts early Metallica, Rush, Yes, Dream Theater and Iron Maiden, the journey is half the fun of the quest, and victory is most certainly theirs. It's not total music, it's total domination.
