Athens, Ga., popsters Of Montreal have a talent for the surreal. Like Kevin Ayers on helium or Menudo on cough syrup, these merry pranksters of indie pop can't keep a straight face as they blaze a multitracked trail across the face of the sun.
The prolific Athens, Georgia band is an established staple of the US indie-pop scene and has been a continual touring presence for the last six years. The brainchild of singer/guitarist Kevin Barnes, Of Montreal was among the second wave of bands to emerge from the sprawling Elephant 6 collective.? The sound of Satanic Panic In The Attic, the band?s sixth release, is a slight departure from Of Montreal's previous releases yet continues the band's tradition of continually redefining themselves. The influence of 1970's Afro beat and 80's new wave can clearly be heard throughout the album offering fans a new perspective previously unheard from the band.
