About Om: Sounds of Om v.6

Over the years, Om has always represented a wide range of underground music. From Deep House and Techno to Hip Hop and Soul, we've dabbled in most of it, and strived to push the sounds we dig. Music is always a moving target,constantly changing and evolving. We've been fortunate enough to work with a wide range of artists, many of whom have been responsible for pushing those boundaries in new directions.

Sounds of Om v.6 explores an inspiring range of minimal and funky tech house, all hand selected and expertly mixed by Om's very own Rob G. It blurs the lines between several electronic sub-genres in typical Om fashion. These are some of the sounds we are feeling in early 2008 and are excited to present as our 300th release.

About Scary Grant

Scary Grant aka Giulio Andreini, had his first early connection with the electronic scene in the late 90’s as a photographer. After collaborating with Orbeat magazine as its official photographer, his various collaborations led him to shoot the cover for Richie Hawtin Decks EFX & 909, and Mr. Velcro Fastener ‘Who’s Gonna Bend’ EP. Inspiried by labels such as Incoming, Studio 1, Chain Reaction, and Max Ernst, his interest and love for djing and music production grew until he decided to start making his own music.

Getting in touch with Francesco Parra meant the beginning of Eclat in 2001. The two were proposing a back-to-back dj set with a great minimal sound, a very hazardous sound to propose for the Italian taste at that moment. After several exciting gigs in the main Italian festivals in 2002, their dj mix was selected by the Red Bull Music Academy. Eclat was invited to participate at the Brazilian edition of the academy in Sao Paulo. This experience served as the platform that was to move them forward musically.

Back from Brazil, Giulio and Francesco made the important decision to take their music production more seriously. Together with their close friend Marzio Arico (Prudo, DRM), they released tracks that Luke Solomon wanted for his label – Music For Freaks. Tracks that followed were released by labels such as PIAS, Wash House, Select, Anorak, Trapez Ltd., and Moodmusic Ltd. After his last work with Eclat, Giulio decided to leave the project in order to focus on Scary Grant, his solo project born in early 2006.

The first Scary Grant release was in December 2006 for Lo Fi Stereo, together with dadaBleep (Frankfurt) on the EP Crash/Almost Crash. More tunes are to come in 2007 so keep your eyes and ears open!
