Smooth and easy does it with Paul Bass. The Santa Cruz, Calif., keyboardist and composer touches on Windham Hill territory as well as that of his influence Bill Evans on the sensitively rendered "Still...."
Paul Bass had a very long career in music, beginning with his first recordings with the Diaboliques in Southern California, and extending through progressive rock, pop, and jazz groups. Paul played the Hammond B-3 organ with a distinctly original style, but his true love was the piano. In later years he was able to indulge this love in a series of solo recordings and in his collaborations with bassist Steve Pinkston. Paul's style was influenced early on by Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett, but his mature style was all his own. Paul's piano fell silent in January of 1999, and he is greatly missed by all who knew him.
