Editor's review

If Steve Earle weren't so dead-set on sounding the rebel, he might resemble this Tennessee singer-songwriter, who apes Earle's power-strum folk but counters it with buttery vocals. That doesn't mean he's a softie--Roberts's sweet voice dives headlong into modern politics.

Biography

Paxton Roberts has loved all kinds of produced and original music since he was in a 7-piece rock and roll band, The Tempests, in Augusta, Georgia. He lived for a few years in Nashville where he began seriously writing songs in the 1980's. He continues to write, play guitar, and perform at venues such as Eddies Attic in Atlanta, as well as in and around Tallahassee and North Florida.

Like most writers, Roberts has composed hundreds of songs and scored songwriting recognition with "I Can't Write A Lovesong" which placed in the top 10% of the American Song Festival of over 1 million entries. He has recently had two songs, "Pale Blue Cadillac" and "She Closed Her Eyes In Memphis," regularly played on local country radio. He is co-founder of Greater Big Bend Music, BMI affiliated, which is a digital music format that provides Florida songwriters the opportunity for worldwide exposure of their original music.
