This herky-jerky math-pop band lived a long, healthy six-year life in san francisco in the 1990s, putting out a mess 'o' singles and two full-length albums ("Now, More Charm and More Tender" on March Records; "The Roaring Mechanism" on Absolutely Kosher Records) and enduring an ill-advised name change to "P.E.E." during the course of their tumultuous affair. They have difficulty describing exactly what they sound like, so let's describe the lineup instead: two guitars, one lefty and one righty; two vocals, one male and one female; one bass (electric); and one very loud drummer. (Now that we're aging, we all wish we'd worn earplugs.) At its best, pee was dynamic, complex, and harmonic. At its worst, pee was deliberately irritating.
