No band is more democratic than Phantom Planet. For four records, the L.A. group has pulled off a sort of musical "Design Within Reach," offering a smart but utterly unsnobbish power-pop. On the latest, Planet prove that even their "concept" stuff shan't be geeky.
Phantom Planet's fourth record and first for Fueled By Ramen works within an underlying concept. The songs draw influence from the music of cult leaders and work to tell singer Alex Greenwald's fictional cult experience. Produced by Tony Berg (Aimee Mann, Pete Yorn), the album features the single "Do The Panic," "Dropped," and the title track "Raise The Dead."
