Editor's review

This Kent, England quartet describes its sound as "not unlike Bloc Party duelling with the Killers in an art-rock shaped blender." This raises three questions. First, if Bloc Party and the Killers dueled, who would win? Second, where can I find an art-roc

Biography

Quad Riot are a four piece from Kent who peddle a fine line of taut riffology, sounding not unlike Bloc Party duelling with the Killers in an art rock-shaped blender. With tunes to boot. Dynamic, wirey entertainment.

Think: Bloc Party, The Killers, Gang Of Four, The Cure, The Strokes, The Kaiser Chiefs

Quad Riot are:

John Saunders - vocals, guitar
Justin Easton - guitar, floppy hair
Clint Bigwood - bass and backing vocals
George White - drums, general craziness

People first stumbled across Quad Riot when they played under the name "10 Side Zero" at Chatham?s Infamous venue the Tap'n'Tin (Where Pete Doherty & the Libertines re-joined). After successful gigs as a three piece they felt they needed another guitarist to free them up to play the frantic guitar based music that drives them. So enter Justin (Jut) Easton, long-time friend to the band and Bassist from popular local band "Orphan". They then renamed themselves "Quad Riot" because they had all been to the same school and had been punished as students with the dreaded Quadrangle.

They set out to write a set of songs that was representative of everything they had been without the constraints of being a three piece. It was, to use a journalistic clich?, like someone had fed The Strokes some very good amphetamines and introduced them to The Cure.

John remarks that "the songs are there to pick you up, and if you're already up, we want you to dance".

After an overwhelming positive response to the changes in the band and the direction of the music, they felt it was time to record.

Quad Riot have just completed recording their first self funded demo entitled "Quad Riot". Ears are pricking, people are paying attention!

They plan on gigging hard, learning their craft and writing more great songs. There?s no doubt that 2006 is the year Quad Riot will find you.
