Most reggae isn't so much sung as crooned, intoned, or chanted. Then again, this isn't most reggae. Sao Paolo's enigmatically named "Jimmy" brings together punchy Jamaican dancehall rhythms and grandiose, almost operatic vocals. The effect may be a touch dramatic, but there's no debating its brazen allure.
Jimmy represents the new reggae music blazing from South America. He is one of the pioneer reggae-deejays (MC) in Brazil and is the hottest dancehall artist in the country, no doubt... 'K-Rootz Recs' will release soon his 2 solo albums "Reggae Seu Coracao" and "Babylon SP" (each with 13 tracks on several famous riddims but sung in his native portuguese). Jimmy has been performing in many places as solo, with his hiphop-reggae group Enganjaduz (they have a critically acclaimed album "Igual Voce Nunca Viu"/2003), with his ragga crew Familia 7 Velas (album to be released soon by K-Rootz Recs) or with Echo Sound System, a consistent dub-ragga crew (album to be released soon by ST2 Recs). His lyrics are focused on conscious issues and on many aspects surrounding the modern days in Babylon as well... Now its the time to spread his messages and energy all over the places. Fire caan cool! RastafarI
