Editor's review

If boogie-woogie is the creampuff genre of jazz, Austrian Richie Loidl is making it more akin to schnitzel. Loidl's version of the American swing style offers plenty of the treble glitz and glamour, but anchors those frills with a hard-charging left hand that demands a fair hearing. It's a uniquely hearty take that still maintains the bubbly fun.

Biography

Richie Loidl was born in 1967 in Bad Ischl, close to?Salzburg and Lake Wolfgangsee, Salzkammergut, Austria. Had classical piano-education in music scool for 7 years (no success!). Started to play boogie & blues in 1985?after he got Vince Weber`s disc "I`m the Boogie Man" as a christmas-present from his aunt.?Listened to?Ammons, Johnson & Lewis recordings but was mainly influenced by contemporary pianists like Vince Weber, Axel Zwingenberger, Joja Wendt, Martin Schmitt.

Graduated successfully at Tourism College (1985)?and University of Innsbruck (1997, managerial economics). Studied together with Clemens Vogler and playes in duo with him since that time. Since 1995 they organize the Shake the Lake Boogie Festival at Lake Wolfgangsee once a year together with Markus Brandl and Johnny Sch?tten.

Lived and worked in Paris from 1996-1997. Since then friendship and many projects together with Jean-Pierre Bertrand and with other french musicians. Speaks perfect French (and English).

Played together with Axel Zwingenberger, Vince Weber, Martin Schmitt, Joja Wendt, Jean-Pierre Bertrand, Jean-Paul Amouroux, Jo Bohnsack, Gottfried B?ttcher, David Gazarov, Martin Pyrker, Mojo Bluesband, Fabrice Eulry, Little Willi Littlefield, Bob Seeley, Wendy de Witt, Rudy "Blueshoes" Wyatt, Silvan Zingg, Frank Muschalle, Christoph "Stoffi" Steinbach, Steve "Big Man" Clayton, Tibor Grasser, Christian "Bibo" Willisohn, Christian Christl, Stephano Franco, etc.

Played in Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Slovakia, Canada. He is a specialist for company & society events, for fine & luxury hotel-bars?and played on almost all big boogie & blues festivals in Europe.

His music is full of emotion, "groove" and fun. Cannot read the keys; learned everything by heart - and "by request": Therefore?his repertoire covers "most wanted songs"...

When not playing piano he works?in advertising & marketing project-management?for a Munich-based company (GFB & Partner Marketing Services). Before: different jobs in tourism-marketing and consulting sector.

Richie`s slogans: "Keep shakin`!", "Let the good times roll!", "Langes Leben"!
