Biography

Rob Peters is a singer songwriter and guitarist whose music tends to be stuck between

Country and southern Blues. Rob has always seemed to have been playing an instrument of

some fashion. At the age of eight he started playing violin (fiddle) because he was inspired

by Charlie Daniels. Being left-handed, Rob didn’t take to the violin as he thought he

would, so he began to strum on his step father’s guitar when he wasn’t looking.

Caught in the act one day by his step father who was a very accomplished guitarist in central and eastern Kentucky, Rob was told to never touch his guitar again. Soon after, Rob’s

step father (David Steele) brought in this old acoustic guitar with the strings strung left-handed and said, "Now play boy!" That’s all it took. Rob practiced day and night and would go with his step father to his band rehearsals every chance he got. Listening to honky tonk rock and tear- jerkin’ country along with his step father’s blues and rockabilly guitar riffs. Rob had a good start at becoming a serious musician.

At the age of seventeen Rob formed his first band. Crosswired, named after the bad PA system they had. Made up of two other guys up the street they were going to be the biggest thing that ever hit Mt. Vernon, KY. Crosswired hadn’t got a singer as of yet because no one wanted to step up to the mic. They took a vote and Rob Peters won (or lost). Crosswired performed a grand total of two shows outside the garage, the first in the high school gymnasium and the second at a grand opening of a pizza parlor. Then Rob goes on to play lead guitar a band called Southern Lace where he got a real taste of how it was done. Made up of three women and three men Southern Lace performed all over eastern Kentucky. The band being fronted by a female singer (Donna Bullock) Rob was left the only one who could sing a few songs a night to give her a break. Rob began to find his own voice of singing Conway Twitty and Keith Whitley songs and playing The allman Brothers and Chuck Berry Tunes.

Rob moves on through bands over the next couple of years looking for a sound he can call his own. He finally comes across a couple of guys outside Lexington, KY and they form The Spare Change Band. Playing honky tonk rock and country, Rob taking the front spot for the first time and has been performing for the last five years with The Spare Change Band. Performing to the most versatile audiences central Kentucky and southern Indiana has to offer. Winning the trophy of the True Value Country Showdown and Catch a Rising Star in 2000. Rob has made a name for himself in Lexington, KY as a solid performer and a talented musician.

Rob Peters is currently performing two to three shows a week in central Kentucky and surrounding areas. He spends his off nights writing and recording songs in his home studio in Lexington, KY.
