It's pretty amazing, in this modern day and age, just how many sounds you can make with an organ and a few electronic doo-dads. Sacramento's Rocketship uses their electronic know-how and some dreamy vocals to fashion a musical time machine, channeling trippy '60s pop.
Rocketship was formed in the early '90s in Sacramento, California by Dusty Reske. Working with many other musicians, including members of Henry's Dress, Aislers Set, Trace, Electro Group, and Holiday Flyer, among others, Rocketship burst onto the scene with their near legendary "Hey Hey Girl" single on Bus Stop records, and followed it with the highly acclaimed "A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness" on Slumberland Records in 1996. The initial '60s-styled pop layered in whirling analog organs and bright guitars have merged with Dustin's continuous experimentation with electronics and production to create the wonderful amalgamation of styles featured on this release.
