Editor's review

If Azul's new record sounds like the work of an ultra-tight combo, there's a reason: the Portuguese saxophonist/composer played every track himself. When you're this good, why involve anyone else? Bolina is a revelation among world-fusion hybrids, joining African beats and Latin rhythms with a raspy improv sax style straight out of early '70s Paris.
