What if big band had come after free jazz? That's what Cambridge, Mass., group the Ryles Jazz Orchestra leaves you asking. With keep-you-on-your-toes atonal moments, daring solos, and a sassy Latin edge, this ensemble hardly belongs to the Glenn Miller school: it's big band with a masters degree in samba and a Ph.D in hard bop.
Biography
These two tunes are from a "live" performance at Ryles Jazz Club. The first song "Wind Machine" is an example of a breakneck tempo. The second song is the classic "Caravan" and features some great solo work.
