Editor's review

Sean Moore's Sonoma, Calif.-based quartet plays original compositions that are free jazz in structure, but owe their sonic quality to influences more in line with Wes Montgomery and "Blue Train"-era Coltrane. Smoky sax lines and cool, muted guitar evoke all the ambience and mystery of a California jazz club circa Gerry Mulligan.

Biography

Born in Sacramento the 24th of October nineteen hundred and seventy nine and raised in Ukiah, California from age four. Mendocino County has been the home of many great musicians including Robben Ford .

I never touched an instrument until the latter part of my high school struggle except for the random strum of a guitar or pluck on the piano. The local music scene inspired me and my dedication flourished.

Studying under John Mattern, a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, I learned an incredible amount about musical composition and performance. Before moving to Sonoma County I studied classical theory and composition and improvisational techniques.

Now as a student of Mel Graves, George Marsh, Pete Estabrook, and Randy Vincent at Sonoma State University I have been able to pursue music with their inspiration. It is important to mention that with the help of these master musicians I have been able to see the potential of music and human expression. I appreciate everyone that has helped bring me to this point in my life.
