Editor's review

Sunday morning Mass suddenly sounds a whole lot more appealing. This St. Lucian reggae gospel singer makes the kind of music you wish they'd play in your parish, a gorgeous blend of Steel Pulse-like rhythms and vocals that feel a whole lot closer to God than some fusty old hymns.

Biography

Werner "Semi" Francis St. Lucia?s leading lovers? rock artiste has returned to his roots and is now singing for the rock of ages. Semi has produced two albums ?Collections 1,& 2? with executive producer Yves Lewis and a string of hits including his chart topper ?Put Yourself In My Place?. He?s acquired a wealth of experience as a musician having worked the hotel, club and cruise ship circuits, which eventually led to his migration along with the band Summit to the United Kingdom. With managers Pam and Paul Castle, the band appeared on many high profile shows, one of them being the BBC?s pebble Mill and through publisher David Most, the group signed a recording contract with RCA records. Since then Semi has performed alongside the best in the business - Sanchez, Gregory Isaacs, Culture, John Holt, Shaggy and Wyclef Jean. Semi drew further recognition with his band Oct 4 when he performed at the opening of the St. Lucia Jazz Festival. Semi now back in St. Lucia, after recording and performing in Boston under the WildCubby music label has accepted the higher calling and has returned to his gospel roots and the God of his youth. Says Semi ?for years there has been this emptiness in my heart living half and half knowing full well that the only way to abundant life is full surrender to Jesus and so I did by his grace?. The future is expected to see Semi taking on new challenges. He is now laying down tracts for his first gospel album in his very own state of the art recording studio. The first single off the album is titled ?Give praises? a self testimony of gratitude to God the father. Semi says he wants to help spread the gospel in song, also help youth know that Jesus is real and he?s cool. The artist also looks forward in assisting young and upcoming performers.
