''Sex and The City'' Soundtrack

New Line Records release of Sex and the City: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack has entered the Billboard Album charts at #2 this week, with sales of 66,014 copies.

Jason Linn, Executive Vice President of New Line Records says, "We're thrilled with the breakout success or our soundtrack – it's exciting to see a collection of such diverse and talented artists find it's prominent place in pop culture".

Sex and The City Soundtrack was created with the help of Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Nas), whose challenge, says the film's writer and director Michael Patrick King, was "To create a soundtrack for the ultimate movie about love." Remi adds, "For every fan of this show and film, this soundtrack is the perfect companion."

Remi co-wrote and co-produced the title track, "Labels or Love," which, as sung by superstar Fergie, re-imagines the TV series' theme as a fabulous pop song. "Labels or Love" is quickly climbing the Top 40 chart, with major market airplay in New York, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix and more.

"I grew up watching Sex and the City," says Fergie, "to be a part of this project has been amazing."

The soundtrack also features a new song from Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson, who plays the personal assistant to Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in the film. Hudson shows off her pipes on "All Dressed in Love" (written by MC Jack Splash and Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo Green), which plays over the films end credits.

Joss Stone also contributes vocals exclusively for the soundtrack on the Al Green classic, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart".

The remainder of Sex and the City: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is an eclectic, emotional mix of songs from such artists as Indie.Arie, Jem (whose track is exclusive to the soundtrack), and indie bands Morningwood, The Bird & the Bee, and The Weepies. The disc also includes classics from Nina Simone and Run-D.M.C.

Sex and the City: the Movie set the record for highest opening weekend of all time for an R-rated comedy.
