Shabby Doll was hatched in Brooklyn like any other band out of late night discussions of music. It is in the early stages, very focused on songwriting and developing a style. We admire the glam greats, Bowie, Roxy, Depeche Mode and great British pop: Suede, Pulp, Travis. Overall, we are sorry to hear so few good melodies on the radio and aim for songs with melodies that don't sound like a rehash of '60s pop or '80s alternative music. And lyrics that talk directly about life. We're a little out of place in this punk neighborhood of Brooklyn, where every band is exposing their neck tattoos while using their nose-piercing as a slide and cranking out anti-Bush anthems. Our music is probably for adults who love good songs. We'd love to hear from other musicians and songwriters (not like myspace types trying to up their "friends" count): shabbydollmusic@gmail.com.
