Biography

Shaman was formed in December 2004 after four like minded souls with diverse tastes in music got together to infuse some fresh life in the stale music scene in India. Jamming on some incredibly catchy tunes and musical ideas, the band developed a distinct sound of their own. We have composed a song about the tragic consequences of the floods of ?Terrible Tuesday? that occurred on the 26th of July in Bombay and which threw life in the commercial capital of India out of gear. The band also decided to use that song ?Patharon ke is sheher mein? (City of stones) as a backdrop for a music video that would depict the aftermath of ?Terrible Tuesday?. The song with it?s haunting melody and poignant lyrics forms a stark combination coupled with the empathetic images of the music video.? The video for the song was shot immediately in the aftermath of the downpourof ?Terrible Tuesday? and depicts the singer Atin making a documentary and interviewing kids and people who were affected with the floods. After visiting a few of the affected areas in Mumbai where hundreds of people lost their lives and interviewing the hapless survivors many of whom have lost everything and not in the least their kith and kin was a humbling experience and reflected the resilience of human beings in the aftermath of a calamity. The song is anthemic and optimistic with soul searching lyrics that urge the viewers to rally on with their lives at the same time erasing the wounds of the past and exhorts us to rebuild the pieces of their lives.
