Editor's review

There are echoes and deep reverberations in the rich tones of Soni Thompson. Her original material lopes along with delicate fiddle lines supplementing acoustic guitar figures, and lost in their spell it would be fair to guess it was Chrissie Hynde on a quiet summer night making these sweet and deep reveries.

Biography

Sonja Thompson (aka Soni Thompson) was born in Fargo, North Dakota/Moorhead, Minnesota in 1969. At the age of eight, Soni started playing guitar and writing music. She was frequently recognized for her musical achievements throughout high school: singing in the choir, Christmas caroling, and winning 1st place solo vocal for original music three years in a row.

In her later teens, Soni teamed up with another female musician, Lolly Hensrud. This duo, known as Bittersweet, played in some local venues and?recorded several of their original songs.

Soni moved to Louisville, Kentucky when she was 21 and sporatically continued her music career, while also earning a BA in English at the University of Louisville. In 1998, Soni recorded a CD called Summertime and Lemonade, in which the songs below appear. She currently works as an editor and is a single mother. However, music is and will always be her passion.
