Offering a twist on a Whiskeytown lyric, Marten and Loulou wanted to play soul, but they were in a hip-hop band. The Swedish duo dropped the flow-dropping in favor of a sound that's soul in its late-'70s incarnation--that which allows liberal doses of funk beats and pop danceability, but keeps all the vocals intact.
Biography
We are a band with roots in Malmoe, a beautiful city in the south of sweden. Marten, who plays base and handles the production and me(Loulou) who sings and writes most of the lyrics, met when we played together in a Hip Hop band two years ago. It did'nt take long til we found that both had a bigger love for soulmusic. So we began to write songs together for a new project. This became SOULECTRIC's first step. We have been workin together for about one year now and many recordings and sessions later we have found ourselves with a lot of material and do now feel ready to record an EP. The next goal is to get out on stage to play. We'll probably start out at the local scenes in the southern parts of sweden. See you there.
