Editor's review

Ah, Winter Music Conference. Each March, the electronic-music industry turns South Beach into a circus. Anyone who's made the trek knows the neccessity of a compilation like this (with tracks by proggies Infusion, Pete Tong, Steve Porter)--after all that partying, an audio memory trigger is helpful.

Biography

South Beach Sounds - Miami Music Week

Los Angeles, CA --- South Beach Sounds-Miami Music Week Volume 1 is a sensory souvenir of the world’s largest dance and electronica event, the Winter Music Conference. Recorded in 2005, the DualDisc (and separate DVD, both released on March 21st via Immergent) captures the magnitude of the weeklong event, where over 10,000 people from 60 different countries came together for round the clock parties, industry panels, and cutting edge technological demonstrations. Electronica fans and professionals alike attend the conference, now in its 21st year.

The DualDisc version of South Beach Sounds is dominated by tracks from some the conference’s most electrifying acts. Trance master Steve Porter, house duo Murk, the jarring and intense Australian electronica trio Infusion, and the influential British DJ Pete Tongoffer a dizzying sample of what the best performances of the conference were like. The DVD side of the DualDisc was completely shot in High Def and includes behind the scenes footage and performances, as well as excerpts from the massive, 14 stage Ultra Music Festival (held in the midst of the Winter Music Conference) and a peek into club life at Miami hotspots like The Mansion, Cro Bar, Nikki Beach and more. Interviews with legends and trailblazers Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed and Junkie XLgive a first hand account of the event and the pandemonium surrounding it. The DVD also includes bonus features such as surround sound bonus tracks from Alan Parsons (with The Crystal Method) and Josh One, while videos from Yellownote and street artist Kofie round out the disc. The DualDisc offers bonus ROM content and portable music files.

Miami Music Week celebrates the dance music and electronica culture from the Winter Music Conference with this collection of world famous DJ’s and artists. Along the streets of South Beach the steady beat of house music was so omnipresent that even the palm trees seemed to go thumpa-thumpa-thumpa-thumpa. As always, there is a dizzying overabundance of great DJs playing every conceivable kind of event including Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Craze, John Digweed, Pete Tong, Infusion, Steve Porter, Murk, Chris Fortier, Ferry Corsten, and Junkie XL.
