The punk-pop template has become familiar: thunderous drums, desperate guitars, vocals straining with the weight of their own sincerity. But when it's finely crafted, it can certainly still impress. These Portland, ME youngsters belie their youth with pristine riffs and mature production.
Take one mic-swinging vocalist who throws himself to the floor, the crowd, the walls, and into his band mates. Add two in-synch guitarists who provide vocals and an insane amount of movement as they shred and toss their instruments around with guided precision. We're almost there... Add a bassist with an impressive set of lungs providing screams, and a rock-solid drummer holding it all down. Mix in one self-proclaimed "sorta awkwardly dancing around the stage" utility man, keeping up constant energy, adding vocals while running back to his synth and hammering the keys. This formula renders Sparks The Rescue:a fresh sound equal parts angst and melody from a group of guys from Portland, Maine with an average age of 19.
Logging in over 200 shows throughout New England, Sparks The Rescue has shared the stage with Hawthorne Heights, Just Surrender, As Tall As Lions, Dave Melillo, Roses Are Red, A Change of Pace, Showbread, Chiodos, A Static Lullaby, Saosin, Boys Night Out, Stretch Arm Strong, Vendetta Red, Strung Out, Emanuel, The Static Age, Human Flight Committee, Glory Of This, and plenty more!
