Biography

Born and raised in California, Bob Moyce (better known as Spirograph) has always had an interest in music.  From learning piano as a young child to learning guitar in high school and bass guitar in college, music has become Spirographs life. A small studio built on the backbone of a solid software sequencer is all Spirograph needs to express his musical creativity. Spirograph draws his influence from a number of places and finds new ones every day. "Im more content with trying new samples and variations. Somtimes I like the challenge of taking a harsh or strange sound and working it into a song." Through four full length albums and over a hundred individual songs, Spirograph has been able to show a multitude of emotional context without ever saying a word. Spirograph has been making sound since 1998. Starting off with Syntrillium Softwares Cool Edit program (now Adobe Audition), Spirograph created a number of audio experiments that sounded more like Halloween haunted house audio tapes. The project was appropriately entitled The Spook Show and the focus was more on creating atmospheres than actual music. Spirograph took what he learned from The Spook Show era and began crafting full length original songs in 1999 with Image Lines Fruity Loops (now the incredible and versatile FL Studio). The intuitive nature of Fruity Loops allowed Spirograph to create better sounding pieces, and as the program evolved, so did Spirographs work.

Spirographs first full length album was completed in July of 2000. The twelve track album was titled Cycles and was based after the planets in the solar system. The album was Spirographs first attempt at creating an entire project that was listenable from beginning to end. From Cycles Spirograph moved onto The Red Album. A decidedly more polished piece of work, Spirograph spent more time on the creation and production of the songs. The Red Album was completed in October of 2000 and featured twelve new songs as well as two tracks recovered from The Spook Show era. Spirographs third album, Hydra Science, arrived in August of 2002 and reflects Spirographs most ambitious project to date. The thirty-two track album was split into two volumes: Volume I: After the Fall and Volume II: The Unfinished Dream. The entire project was meant to be played back to back and showcases Spirographs ability to fluidly link all thirty-two tracks in a coherent manner to tell a deep and engaging story.  The Double Eclipse, Spirograph's fourth full lenght album, followed in April of 2004 with a bonus disc released in October 2004.  Work from all these albums can be found here as well as on other Spirograph satellites (please see the main Spirograph Web Site for more information).
