Sweden's got the pop--of that there is no doubt--and when you combine that with jangly acoustic Americana strains, you've got Splicer, makers of a delicious blend of gentle rock'n'pop that ought to satisfy diehard fans of power pop and heartland-style rock alike.
The members of Splicer are renowned for their spirit and spontaneous creativity, doing things their own way. Since they started out in 1999 they have come up with a number of demos, praised by the critiques, and released a CD single on english JohnJohn Records. Last autumn Splicer embarked on a tour around Europe, all arranged by themselves. Travelling in an old A-team look-a-like Chevy Van, they played about 40 scenes in Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Germany and Denmark, among others the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.
Not resting for long, they set sails for unknown territory and spent the summer touring in Poland. This resulted in their debut single spending seven weeks on the charts and a second visit from the band was more than needed. The Poland adventures lead Splicer into the hands of car thieves, Mr Hustler (the porn mag editor), Mr Jard (the small town kingpin) and dangerous beautiful women. It?s all on video tape and has been put together for an upcoming roadmovie, suitable for childish grown ups and grown up kids.
Splicer creates pop anthems breathing in a genuine and warm atmosphere, speaking a personal language. Splicers joins american rock and swedish roots pop into an acoustic, straight on blend of pop music.
Some reviews:"[…] Splicer are a three piece from Linkoping, Sweden and with a new CD receiving huge support, a record contract and a gig in the Cavern next week, the future looks bright for these talented neeps. […] With influences as diverse as the Beatles and Kiss, they create a touching sound with songs that you are immediately comfortable with. The lyrics are simple and personal and Unosson’s unique vocal makes you entranced by every word. The result has a Crowded House style beauty that is so missing from today’s poppy formulaic charts. So far they have performed their mellow, soulful and folk inspired creations in Denmark, Germany, England and Ireland and have most recently been lending their splendid anthems to Edinburgh ears." -Fiona Borthwick, music journalist Scotland “[…]‘Balance’ is a nicely laid back loping tune that features some decent harmonies, and is neatly underpinned by fine electric guitar playing from Marcus Davidsson. Tomas Unosson’s lead vocal ‘s on this and the equally laid back ‘Dreaming’ are brimful of confidence and convincing passion.” HOTPRESS MAGAZINE, Ireland "[…] Splicer are filled with quality. Good singing, good musicality and a beautiful sound. " Roland Klinga, Norrköpings Tidningar"[…]
