Stairway began after being influenced by the NWOBHM era. The band gigged continuously around the UK, and released for Edge Records as part of a sampler compilation CD, the album 'Last Ship Home'. Stairway recorded and released for Edge, their Debut CD, 'No Rest : No Mercy' produced by Paul Hodson (Hard Rain / Bob Catley), which hailed the band's International popularity. The band continued to work live, and following fans requests for a new album, Stairway independently released in 1999 the long awaited second album, 'Bleeding Heart' which continuing on from 'No Rest : No Mercy', gained the band an increased global fan base. Stairway began recording their third album in 2001, and after much anticipation and expectation, 'On Hallowed Ground' was independently released in 2002.
Following up on the success of 'On Hallowed Ground', and after featuring in
many Web-Zines, Stairway were invited to take part in an Unsigned Bands contest
organised by AORdreamzones.com, which they duly won with 38% of the vote!
This followed, by having the track 'Under the Gun' chosen to feature on the
compilation CD 'Defenders of Metal' released by the American label MIB Music,
which was released World Wide in September 2003. With numerous calls from fans and distributors for the band's now out of print first album 'No Rest:No Mercy', Stairway signed an exclusive licence deal?with Retroactive Records in the USA, and the album is now available from www.stairwaymusic.co.uk . In late 2005 early 2006, Stairway went back into the studio to begin recording their 4th CD 'The Other Side Of Midnight' which is now available from the bands label store at www.stairwaymusic.co.uk and http://cdbaby.com/cd/stairway and maybe the album that puts Stairway on the musical map for real!
