Editor's review

If Stan Getz's silken tenor sax was tailor-made for the mellifluous West Coast style, it's equally ideal for the tender love ditty. Supported by Abbey Lincoln, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Diz himself, Getz's new collection gives new meaning to being one with your instrument; at times you'd swear he wasn't playing but crooning, a line only Chet Baker usually blurs.

Biography

Nobody sounds like Stan Getz. And nobody plays a love song the way he did. Warm, tender, and sensuous, the sound of Stan Getz is the sound of love.

Here are eleven of the most beautiful love songs ever written, all made even more beautiful thanks to the unique Getz treatment. The supporting cast is stellar Dizzy Gillespie, Abbey Lincoln, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and many others but it is Getzs unmistakable saxophone that makes these performances truly unforgettable.
