Editor's review

In light of recent events in the Pacific, "Tidal Wave" is an unfortunate title for a new love song, but Steve Kopandy has come to England from Australia to ply the waters of the pop/ rock world and he's not going to let a tsunami stand in his way. Like the brothers Finn before him--perhaps more Tim than the soulful Neil--Steve is reaching out to new continents with his light rock.

Biography

Steve Kopandy grew up in Newcastle, on the Australian East Coast, a city famous for its steel industry, pro surfers, and breeding of great rock bands.

Steve fell in love with radio rock and pop during his teenage years, and picked up a guitar at the age of 13. By the age of 14 He had written his first of many songs.

Since 1995, Steve has been writing and performing in various pop/rock bands, predominantly as the front man for Paperadio, with whom he still performs.

Steve released his first Solo EP in 2003, a collection of six demos, entitled 'Silver Things'. Steve put together a line-up of local friends and began performing around Sydney and Newcastle, promoting the EP and refining his writing and performing.

In October 2003, Steve moved to London with Paperadio and has since been spending plenty of time performing on stages throughout the UK.

In late 2004, Steve recorded his first studio EP entitled 'Scripted'. Produced in Australia by David Carr (Taxiride, Antiskeptic), the lead track is 'Tidal Wave' and is a song for the summer of 2005. It's acoustic driven with kicked back drums and perfectly layered electric guitars and harmonies.

Steve cites the Thrills, Counting Crows and David Gray as his major influences, and this is apparent in the sound of 'Scripted', which is already selling well in Australia after a Christmas 2004 release.

Steve successfully released Scripted in the UK in January 2005. Judging by the early response to the EP, it's not going to take long for the UK to warm to Steve's summery sounds.

Steve will continue performing in London during 2005 and aims to build radio profile over the summer. Steve hopes to record again later in 2005.
