A key to film-score composition is striking the balance between classical principles and clear themes. Too heavy on the former and there's no story; too much of the latter and it's schlock. This young composer gets his levels just right, keeping musical merit but promoting clear narrative.

Steven is a graduate of Rice University, the University of Southern California, and the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, where he studied with such legendary film composers as David Raksin, Elmer Bernstein, Leonard Rosenman, Buddy Baker, and Christopher Young.
