Raz Mesinai (aka Badawi, aka the Bedouin) and John Ward's music as Sub Dub take the listener on an electric tour of music circling the globe, combining rhythms from house, ambient, Middle Eastern, Celtic, and so many other textures.
The Sub Dub duo of Raz Mesinai (aka Badawi, aka the Bedouin) and John Ward has been combining their interests over the past eight years, drawing on their love of hip hop, house, ambient, Middle Eastern, Irish, and of course, as the foundation, dub. Sub Dub formed in January of 1993. The name describes themusic. Keeping true to tradition, the tracks are mixed live in the originaldub style. The sound remains down to earth rather than lingering aimlessly in outer space. After kicking things off with a signature unpredictable short intro, layers of dub, Middle Eastern drums, electronics and noise wash over the underlying and omnipresent basslines. These tracks showcase their combination of the rough with the smooth, the clean with the grimy.
