Sumo sound like Green Velvet and Jamie Lidell recording with Larry Heard in his prime. The Swedish duo set cold and callous electro beats against an almost flirty dance-punk backdrop similar to DFA Records' Juan Maclean. But when it comes to titling their debut album, they get right to the point: "Danceband" resembles what the Talking Heads might be today if they were raised in a different era.
Swedish dynamic duo SUMO follow up the success with their remix compilation Rebounces. Having been busy in the studio for the past 6 months, only to have all their work stolen by thieves, SUMO are now set to unveil their exciting debut artist album The Danceband. Basically it's a tribute to dance music. A tribute to rhythms and to the people who feel them. Twelve beautifully crafted songs with individual stories and musical flavours. Call it Nu-house, Afroelectro or Eclectic dance with a Latin twist - all the musical references you may come to think of are also the names of the world's most famous dances. It's not a coincidence. Sporting a group of world class vocalists and musicians including Clarisse Muvemba, Simone Moreno and Aaron Phiri (Hearin Aid) to name a few, this talent massive are definitely here to kick some musical butt this year.
