Editor's review

Striding purposefully through every barrier that Mary J. Blige busted down, St. Louis' Stephens delivers breathy and breathless rap/R&B confections. Like Blige, Lil' Kim, and other saucy hip-hop chanteuses, Stephens ironically uses a deeply sensual approach to convey a powerful untouchability.

Biography

Sunni, Born Sonya Monique Stephens, is a native of Saint Louis, MO. She started singing at the tender age of five years old. After exploring may genres of music, she found her niche in her Southern roots of Rhythm and Blues. She graduated from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy with many literary honors and received the African American Achievement Award scholarship to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Sunni's experiences and uncanny nature has taken her to heights unseen for young unsigned talent. She has toured with the likes of Sam Salter, Queen Pen, Lil' Kim, and 702. Her music and sound has crossed racial barriers, as she was the entertainment for an exclusive European-Russian restaurant in Saint Louis, Missouri. She has even placed music on the national sitcom "The Bernie Mac Show."

Her saucy style and real approach towards day-to-day life has compared her to the likes of Nelly, Mary J. Blige and Tina Turner. Her sound is a true fusion of hip hop and R&B. Writing many of the songs she sings allows an element of realness and feeling to be conveyed to her audience. She makes you feel and believe in whatever she sings.

Sexy?..soulful?.classic??REAL!!!!
