Eschewing the tendency among many Puerto Rican rock acts to avoid Spanish in favor of English, this quintet pens its tunes in its native tongue. Musically, the identity question is more complicated, in a good way. The group blends Latin accents--driving rhythm guitar, soaring romantic melodies--with the foggy bass lines and hushed backup vocals of American dream pop.
Biography
During the 80's decade the local rock scene in Puerto Rico was dominated by cover bands and new wave acts so derivative they didn't even sing in their native Spanish. Not even the bands who wrote their own material bothered to write in Spanish. Back then there was a generalized notion that Spanish was just not a cool language to be used in the rock format. Appalled by this reality, Eduardo Alegria and Francis Perez became obsessed with proving the contrary...Bien Gorgeous is the follow up to the band's well received debut, Mu Psiqui Ta. The band continues on their path of infectious experimental pop and captivating Spanish vocals.
