"World fusion" has many connotations, but "focused" and "coherent" are not generally among them. Tantra begs to differ. The Belgian group refutes the charge that world fusion is shoddily constructed and without depth, enjoying fanciful fiddling but anchoring its sound in dark acoustic bass and a folk sensibility.
Biography
The music of Tantra has been described by many as being Trance Folk, to us it is more World Fusion. We try to blend a lot of influences ranging from Australia to Scandinavia, from Folk to Pop, into an unique contemporary sound and this by mainly using acoustic instruments.
In this sense the making of our first CD was a major leap forward for ourselves and our music.
In Belgium we played, successfully, all the major Folkfestivals: Dranouter, Deerlycke, Brossella, Jong Folk,and ChristmasFolk.
