Maybe it's because they're from the rainy West Midlands of England, but the Tim Amann Quartet plays a particularly warm blend of jazz fusion. Out of the school of Michael Brecker comes this tight foursome, which anchors gleaming sax riffs with rich piano and vibraphone, counting on punchy bop drumming to keep its edge.
The Tim Amann Quartet is based in the West Midlands and plays melodic and soulful contemporary jazz with influences ranging from Michael Brecker and Steps Ahead to Miles Davis and the Jazz Messengers. The group also plays a wide variety of lyrical original compositions with influences ranging from folk to soul and R&B. All four members of the group are also members of the award winning Walsall Jazz Orchestra. The quartet features several contributions from vocalist Sheila MacRory including innovative re-workings of jazz standards as well as Celtic jazz folk adaptations.
