Biography

How fast can a band go? In August 2003 Textures launched her self-produced debut album Polars.  In the 2 months that followed  the band was already picked up by Record Label Listenable Records (France) and Management Loudnoise Productions (Netherlands). Within the year, Textures supported amongst others: Morbid Angel (USA), Sepultura (Bra.), Machinehead (USA), Meshuggah (Sw.), the Dillinger Escape Plan (USA), Watchtower (USA) and  Peter Pan Speedrock (NL).

Unanimously praised

In  native country the Netherlands, the close to an hour lasting debut Polars is unanimously praised by the press. The do-it-yourself strategy textures handles is appreciated very much by them. The six members skipped the demo-phase en took the entire production, mastering and Artwork of the album for their account. Internationally high acclaimed metal magazine Aardschok crowned the album “CD of the month” (91/100). OOR rock magazine talked about “the best metal album ever made on dutch soil”. Dutch music stations the Box and MTV have added the self-produced videoclip of the song Ostensibly Impregnable in their standard playlist by now.

Since the end of April 2004, Polars is available in stores worldwide. The reactions of foreign media have been extraordinarily positive about the diverse musical styles , which polars implements. A couple of songs appeared on bonus and promo CD’s of magazines and mailorders. English magazine Kerrang gave polars 4 out of 5 k’s. German Magazine Hammer called the album “the surprise of the month”. By now, the videoclip has been released on music stations around the world.

Versatility

Textures is pretty hard to label. Innovative, agressive, modern, atmospheric, mathematical: just a few terms that are used regularly. Since her start in 2001, Textures has tried to avoid standard song structures. The use of Electronic instruments is not avoided and influences are derived from pretty much all music styles: soundtracks, metal, pop, ambient, fusion, prog rock, singer \ songwriter, classical. Still the complexe and hyped up songs remain accesible for any music lover.

Touring

In 2004 the band is booked as headliner in their country for well over 40 times. In june of that year the 7 Days of Insomenia tour follows, in which Textures officiates as support act for the Dillinger Escape Plan (24-6), Morbid Angel (29-6) and Meshuggah (30-6) and additionally, plays Fury Fest (25/26/27-6) in France with amonst others: Slipknot, Fear Factory and Soulfly.

In September, the band features at the main stage of the “Until the day breaks” festival in Austria with amonst others Guano Apes. After that, in October, Textures will tour Europe accompanied by the as much obstinate Australians of Alchemist of the American Relapse label.
