The Bad Detectives started with a bunch of friends who liked music and could just about manage a basic three-chord racket. Influences came from the sixties beat boom, pub rock and eventually punk. We spent many years (with many different line-ups) playing pubs, clubs and parties building up a small local fan base whilst also having a very good time. The line up setteled down and we finally decided to start writing our own songs and have found that we quite like it. We particularly enjoy writing about things that are just that little bit different to the norm. We started off by putting out a five track E.P. of self-penned tracks which then we sold at gigs......the styles ranging from rythmn'n'blues and rock'n'roll through to surf and country with a bit of cajun thrown in. Alan Wilson the owner of Western Star studios liked it, signed the band to his label and released our first album "Get Hip-Let Rip". He also included tracks from the group on his Joe Meek tribute albums and a Psychobilly compilation. We have had a bit of BBC radio airplay, which has been great, and got to support some of our heroes including Wilko Johnson and The Pirates, but the best gigs are always the ones in our local pub. We?ve just finished recording our second album, which should be out within the next couple of months. It?s going to be called "B Movie Beat"
