Old-time astronauts the Bother have fallen out of their wooden time machine. William Rahilly has coated his folkish tendencies with a layer of ramshackle pop noise, and the result brings to mind Radiohead stranded on a desert island, pounding out their tunes on homemade instruments and spearfishing with drumsticks.
Drawing influences from Leonard Cohen, Donovan, Ween, Astrud Gilberto, Beck, Nick Drake, and Steve Malkmus, The Bother fuses finely crafted melodies with well conceived lyrics resulting in songs that will leave you happy, sad, and at times tapping your toes. William Rahilly moved to the San Francisco area from New York in 2001, where he focused on writing and recording music.
