Editor's review

It actually makes good sense: the disarming piano-stomp style of Ben Folds brought into the fold of Canadian indie pop. In both cases, the key ingredient is whimsy--"up in the clouds, it's a sunny day," sing the Ease Down--but there's always a lurking danger of things getting serious.

Biography

When you're a kid, absentmindedly pounding on the keys of a piano is easily a top 5 experience behind, like, fishing out the toy in the cereal box, and shooting spit wads at your sister's head in Church (sorry, mom). Montreal-based singer-songwriter Ben Wilkins may have found a way to pound on the piano for the rest of his life (lucky!!!!!!!). Indeed, with the formation of The Ease Down replete with an antiquated honky-tonk upright Wilkins is doing little other than bang out adorable piano pop these days. With the help of bassist Matt Wiviott and drummer Alex Dray, The Ease Down is making it their business to spread good cheer the likes of which none of us have felt since we were kids. Mmmmmmm. Feel the warmth!
