They have had their fair share of dodgy dealings and haircuts. They've experienced near death and midgets riding a bear down West 23rd Street NYC. The songwriting partnership of Rob Doig and Kirk Kettles was formed during their innocent years growing up in a small town called Carnoustie on the North East coast of Scotland. After forming numerous unsuccessful bands the two kids, one guitar, one voice eventually ventured to the bright lights of Edinburgh where the first incarnation of The Fuse was born.
After their self release debut EP 'The Ballad of Charles Godfrey Stilton' which created a buzz around northern Britain back in 2001.
In March 2003 saw the release of the single 'High Society' which was recorded by Duncan Cameron (Travis, Teenage Fanclub, BMX Bandits) and produced by David Scott (The Pearfishers) . With the success of "High Society" The Fuse released their second EP "North Eastern Town" in 2004. The EP can be said to represent two sounds. The first half of the EP has powerful yet melodic undertones and the second half verges into the dirty world of sleazy rock 'n'roll.
They took they're record over the Atlantic to New York and played outstanding gigs at the infamous CBGB and Kenny's Castaway. They rounded of their NYC trip by playing an impromptu gig in the foyer of the Chelsea hotel where the resident freaks, geeks, rockers an rollers welcomed The Fuse into their Cauldron of Creativity. 2005 has seen a string of excellent gigs throughout the UK along with a live session on Radio Scotland.
