Editor's review

The spirit of Chicago's South Side lives on with the Hollywood Combo. Their electrified blues recall the jumping juke joints of the good old days. Get yourself a mojo hand and they'll meet you at the crossroads.

Biography

The band is a good-time Rockin' Rhythm & Blues combo and has earned a reputation from the Blues, Roots, Swing, and retro-billy crowd as one of the best around. Past and current bandmembers include members of Jumpin' Jimes, Royal Crown Revue, Big Sandy& the Fly-Rite Boys, Deke Dickerson, James Harman, Rod Piazza, Hot Rod Lincoln, the Lucky Stars, Russell Scott &the Red Hots, Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, and many more.

The Combo has shared bills with many local greats like Royal Crown and Big Sandy, and legends like Sam Butera. The HWC has performed at nightclubs, dances, car shows, many private events, weddings and music festivals . This year, the HWC will be featured at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly fest Saturday Night backing up legends Big Jay McNeely, Roy Gaines, and Roddy Jackson. Big Jay and the HWC will be at the post-party of the big Rockin' 50's fest in Green Bay this year also. The HWC has even appeared on prime-time television in last year's "For Love Or Money" on NBC. Don't miss them when they shake up a Moose lodge near you.

Led by singer/harmonica/bandleader Mark Tortorici, the CD puts together an all-star cast of the best of the LA scene to create a memorable Rhythm & Blues record. Featuring special guests- R&B hall of famer Sax legend Big Jay McNeely, seminal LA RocknRoll DJ Hunter Hancock, the great Carl Sonny Leyland, and a special appearance by Vocal group the Lonely Blue Boys. Produced by Jim Jedeikin, Wally Hersom, and Mark Tortorici. Recorded LIVE to one track(excepting Hunter's Intro)and Engineered by Wally at Joey's Place(fka Electro-Vox studios) in Hollywood. He really gets that warm feel and sound of those old records we all love so much- we hope you dig it....
