Guitars, bass and drums and super-tight dynamic changes are the focus here, with whip-smart recorded vocals and harmonies as the icing on the cake. The Listening Group executes melodic, emotive rock like dedicated soldiers, taking the reins from emo forefathers Cursive and Jawbox.
Biography
The Listening Group (formerly Inkwell) is a four-piece Indie rock band from Northern California. More importantly they are a group of friends dedicated to playing music filled with passion, honesty and emotion. Reminiscent of No Knife, Braid, Weezer, and Jawbreaker, The Listening Group bring their own independent sound and love for the road to their live performances and recordings. The Listening Group completed a 4 song demo in early 2003 and went on a 5 state, 14 show tour in March of 2003. They have played with many great bands including: Minus the Bear, Counterfit, Mock Orange, Communique, The Velvet Teen, The Ghost, and Benton Falls. The Listening Group plans to tour extensively in 2004 and beyond. Their upcoming 6 song “spalding e.p.” is available on Northern California label Modest Media. While The Listening Group continues their quest to bring their music to all parts of the country, they hope to see you at a show soon!
