Maybe 10 years ago you could say singer-songwriters were a dying breed. But with acoustic revivalists filling our iPods today, it's a good day for such artists. Feel comfortably lonely with the warm harmonies of Andre Perry and John Lindenbaum, a.k.a. The Lonelyhearts.
The band consists of Andre Perry (vox, keyboards) and John Lindenbaum (vox, guitar). Using a 12-string acoustic guitar and a couple of synthesizers, the duo blends angsty folk-rock lyrics with spacey keyboard textures. Their sound certainly recalls the acoustic stylings of Neutral Milk Hotel and the Mountain Goats as well as the synth-rock of Grandaddy and Earlimart. The Lonelyhearts released their debut EP, Make Yourself At Home, in June 2004 and then traveled across the country for their first East Coast tour. Since their return, the band has played around the Bay Area with frequent trips down to Los Angeles. They have played alongside such acts as Lou Barlow, Tim Bluhm, Bishop Allen, Audio Out Send, and their DIY labelmates, Elephone. Their second album, Dispatch, was released on DIYORELSE RECORDS in JUNE 2005.
