This mid-fi indie-coustic outfit pulls off nostalgia without lapsing into sentimentality, which is no scoffable feat. Setting the tone are clean, wintertide guitars and vocals that deliver plainsy imagism with the dry weariness of an aging college-rock band.
Biography
The MWM is the project of Chicago artist and producer Michael Mullowney. Component ingredients include electronics, keyboards, guitar, drums, and spastic, yet tuneful vocals. The resultant sound is often glued together with glitchy, rythmic edits, resulting in dramatic, feverish bliss. And unlike most participants in indie rock's bottomless sea, The MWM makes familiar elements come meld in brand new ways.
